In response to the increased demand for transportation during the Vesak Day 2024 long holiday and collective leave, Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) has added six additional commuter lines to the Yogyakarta-Palur route. The additional trips will operate from Thursday, May 23 to Sunday, May 26, bringing the total number of trips on the line to 30 per day, compared to 24 on weekdays.
KAI Commuter anticipates that the number of passengers using the Yogyakarta commuter line will increase during the long holiday, with an estimated 100,000 – 130,000 users. The highest volume is expected at the beginning of the holiday on Thursday and the end of the holiday on Sunday.
In addition to the six additional commuter lines, KAI Commuter will also continue to operate 15 trips from Palur Station to Yogyakarta Station and 15 trips from Yogyakarta Station to Palur Station daily. Commuter Line Prameks will also continue to operate 8 trips per day.
To avoid overcrowding at Yogyakarta Station, KAI Commuter encourages passengers to use other stations such as Lempuyangan Station, which typically has a lower volume of users during holidays.
The addition of the six commuter lines is part of KAI Commuter’s efforts to provide adequate transportation services to meet the increased demand during the Vesak Day 2024 long holiday.
