KAI Enhances Services for Vesak Day Holiday Rush with Additional Trains

In anticipation of the Vesak Day holiday rush, the Indonesian railways company, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), is implementing significant service enhancements. From May 22 to 26, 2024, KAI will operate 20 additional trains to accommodate the expected surge in passengers.

According to KAI’s Vice President of Public Relations, Joni Martinus, these measures are being taken to ensure a smooth and seamless travel experience during the holiday period. As of May 21, 2024, KAI had recorded a substantial number of ticket sales, with over 455,000 tickets sold for departures between May 22 and 26, representing approximately 62 percent of the total available tickets.

To handle the increased demand during the long weekend, KAI will operate 20 additional trains on various routes. These trains will increase capacity and ensure that more passengers can travel comfortably and efficiently. Additionally, KAI recommends passengers purchase tickets through official channels, such as Access by KAI, to avoid fraudulent activities and secure their seats.

Joni Martinus highlighted the importance of purchasing tickets through official channels and advised passengers to plan their trips in advance to avoid any inconvenience during the holiday rush. He also identified popular routes that typically experience high demand during the Vesak Day period, including those to Bandung, Surabaya, and Yogyakarta.

The additional train services are expected to have a positive impact on travel and tourism during the Vesak Day holiday. KAI’s commitment to providing efficient and reliable transportation will facilitate the movement of tourists and residents, enhancing their overall travel experiences. Passengers are encouraged to make early ticket purchases to secure their seats and ensure a smooth and enjoyable journey during the Vesak Day holiday.
