And in November, our people-powered campaign will win,” she added.
Her announcement follows President Joe Biden’s surprise decision to withdraw from the presidential race, throwing his support behind Harris’s bid. Biden was under pressure to step back from the top of the Democrat ticket after his debate debacle with former President Donald Trump intensified scrutiny over his age and mental capacity. Former President Barack Obama also recently voiced his endorsement, stating Harris would be “a fantastic President of the United States.”

A recent string of opinion polls conducted since Joe Biden suspended his presidential campaign last Sunday (July 21) indicates that Vice President Kamala Harris is narrowing the gap with Donald Trump. Three polls published earlier this week even gave the vice-president a higher approval rating than Trump, something that had not happened for President Joe Biden in months.
However, Republicans, initially caught off guard by Biden’s abrupt exit from the race, are swiftly refocusing their efforts on the new presumptive Democratic nominee. Harris is believed to still be narrowly trailing Trump in a close race.
