Vice President Kamala Harris has been a vocal advocate for immigration reform, but her record as the Biden administration’s ‘border czar’ raises serious concerns about her approach to border security. While she has recently made claims of wanting to secure the border, her actions over the past three and a half years paint a different picture.
The Biden-Harris administration has implemented a series of policies that have effectively dismantled the Trump administration’s ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy, imposed a 100-day deportation freeze, and implemented a catch-and-release policy. These actions have directly contributed to the unprecedented surge in illegal immigration, with over 10 million illegal aliens apprehended at the border and an estimated 2 million ‘gotaways’ who have evaded border patrol agents.
The administration’s claims that the situation is improving are demonstrably false. More illegal aliens have crossed into the United States every month since March 2021 than during the worst month of the Trump administration. The Biden-Harris administration has also been accused of attempting to mask the extent of illegal immigration by redirecting migrants to ports of entry and flying hundreds of thousands of migrants directly into communities across the country.
The consequences of these open border policies are far-reaching and devastating. Over 500,000 unaccompanied minors have been trafficked into the country, and the administration has lost track of tens of thousands of them. The crisis has also led to an increase in violent crimes perpetrated by illegal immigrants.
While Harris has made recent calls for immigration reform, she has consistently opposed legislation that would strengthen border security. Her opposition to the strongest border security bill ever introduced, H.R. 2, and her support for abolishing ICE demonstrate her commitment to an open border policy.
The American people deserve a leader who will prioritize the safety and security of our nation. Kamala Harris’s record on immigration indicates that she is not that leader. Her past actions, coupled with her recent statements, suggest that she would continue the policies that have led to the current border crisis, further endangering our communities and undermining the rule of law.
