Kane Cornes Questions Alastair Clarkson’s Leadership at Struggling North Melbourne

After North Melbourne’s disappointing start to the 2023 season, former AFL star Kane Cornes has questioned whether Alastair Clarkson is the right man to lead the struggling club.

The Kangaroos have lost their first two games of the season and have not won a premiership since 1999. Cornes believes that Clarkson’s style of leadership may not be suited to the current North Melbourne team.

“I’m not sure if Clarkson is the right man to lead North Melbourne out of this,” Cornes said on SEN radio. “He’s a great coach, but I think he needs a different type of team around him.”

Cornes suggested that Clarkson may be better suited to coaching a more experienced and successful team.

“I think he needs a team that is ready to win now,” Cornes said. “North Melbourne is not that team at the moment.”

It remains to be seen whether Clarkson will be able to turn things around at North Melbourne. The Kangaroos have a tough fixture in the coming weeks and will need to start winning games soon if they want to avoid another bottom-of-the-ladder finish.
