Kangana Ranaut Slapped at Chandigarh Airport over Farmers’ Protest Comments
Controversial Bollywood actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has once again made headlines after an incident at Chandigarh airport on Thursday. Ranaut was allegedly slapped by a woman constable during a security check, following her controversial remarks during the 2020 farmers’ protests.
The accused constable, Kulwinder Kaur, was heard in viral videos expressing strong objections to Ranaut’s comments about women protesters being paid for their participation. Kaur’s mother had reportedly been at the farmers’ protest, which Ranaut had criticized.
Following the incident, Kangana Ranaut expressed concern about increasing terrorism in Punjab. She alleged that the constable had approached her from the side, struck her in the face, and launched into a tirade of verbal abuse. The constable was later suspended and placed under custody, while an FIR was filed against her and a court of inquiry initiated by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
Ranaut’s controversial remarks in 2020, in which she had questioned the legitimacy of the farmers’ protests, had sparked outrage and condemnation. Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh had criticized Ranaut for spreading misinformation and fueling tension. Ranaut had deleted her tweet after facing widespread criticism, but she later received legal notices demanding an unconditional apology for her ‘derogatory’ statement.
The incident at Chandigarh airport has sparked outrage and has raised questions about the security measures in place. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has initiated an investigation into the matter, and the Punjab Police have also registered a case. The situation is being closely monitored by the authorities, and further updates are expected in the coming days.
