The release of the much-anticipated film ‘Emergency,’ starring Kangana Ranaut as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, has been postponed indefinitely. The decision was made by Manikarnika Films, the production company owned by Kangana, due to her busy schedule campaigning for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Kangana is contesting from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, her native state, for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The film, written and directed by Kangana herself, was initially set to release on November 24, 2023, but was later rescheduled to June 14. However, due to changes in Kangana’s schedule, the release has now been postponed again.
Manikarnika Films announced the postponement on its Instagram account, stating, “Our hearts are filled with love filled with love pouring in for our queen Kangana Ranaut. As she prioritizes her duty to the nation and her commitment to serve the country, the release date of our much-awaited film ‘Emergency’ has been postponed.”
The production company added, “We promise to update you soon with a new release date. Thank you for your continued support.”
Meanwhile, netizens have commented on the decision to postpone the movie, with some expressing disappointment and others speculating about the reasons behind the delay. One user wrote, “Kangana is going to lose the election and this movie was going to be a disaster… she is running away from major embarrassment of another flop.”
Another user commented, “This movie is never seeing the light of the day. Nobody wants to see a BJP MP in the role of a decorated Congress leader anymore.”
Despite the postponement, some fans remain eager for the film’s release, expressing their anticipation in the comments section. One fan wrote, “Eagerly waiting for this Movie,” while another commented, “It’s been too late…Hope she would release it soon… Meanwhile some teasers etc.”
