Kangana Ranaut, the actor-turned-politician and Mandi MP, has revealed the release date for her upcoming film ‘Emergency.’ The film, which features Ranaut in the lead role as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, is set to hit theaters on September 6th, 2024.
The announcement came through a social media post on Ranaut’s Instagram, where she shared a new film poster depicting her as Indira Gandhi. The caption accompanying the poster stated, “The Beginning of the 50th Year of Independent India’s Darkest Chapter, Announcing #KanganaRanaut’s #Emergency In Cinemas on 6th September 2024.” The post also proclaimed, “The Explosive Saga of The Most Controversial Episode of The History of Indian Democracy, #EmergencyOn6Sept in cinemas worldwide.”
The film’s release was initially scheduled for November 24th, 2023, but was pushed back due to the 18th Lok Sabha Elections. ‘Emergency’ is a political drama that delves into the period of the Emergency in India, a watershed moment in the country’s political history. The film is directed and produced by Ranaut under her production banner, Manikarnika Films Production.
The star-studded cast of ‘Emergency’ includes prominent actors such as Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik. The film’s screenplay and dialogues are penned by Ritesh Shah, with Renu Pitti and Kangana Ranaut serving as producers.
