Seven candidates, including sitting MP Devendra Singh Bhole, filed their nomination papers on Monday for the Kanpur Nagar and Akbarpur constituencies.
BJP candidate Devendra Singh Bhole had already filed two sets of papers on the first day of nomination on Friday last, and on Monday he submitted two more sets of nomination papers. Thus, he has filed four sets for his nomination, which is the maximum limit for any candidate.
The nomination process began on Monday with independent candidate Arvind Kumar Srivastava filing his nomination for the Kanpur parliamentary seat. Others who filed their nomination papers included Arun Kumar, a resident of Neelkanth Market Gandhi Gram Kanpur Nagar as an independent candidate, and Sanjay Singh of the Proudist Block India Party, a resident of Hemant Vihar Barra-2 Kanpur Nagar.
According to voters’ opinions, the main contestants for the Kanpur Nagar seat are BJP candidate Ramesh Awasthi and Congress candidate Alok Mishra. Both filed their nomination papers on Saturday last. Interestingly, both filed two sets and will come once again to file their remaining two sets.
The candidates who filed nomination papers for the Akbarpur seat were Chandresh Singh of Bhartiya Shakti Chetna Party, a resident of Safipur, and Pradeep Bharat of Rakshak Party, a resident of Fattepur Nauranga in Ghatampur representing Rakshak Party. Prem Sheela, a woman candidate and a resident of Ranipur Rasoolabad Derapur, also filed her candidature for the Akbarpur seat as an independent candidate.
Those who purchased nomination papers for the Akbarpur seat on Monday were Rajesh Kumar Dwivedi-Bahujan Samajwadi Party-1 set, Prem Sheela-Independent, 2 sets, and Yogesh Jaiswal-Independent-1 set. Similarly, those who purchased nomination papers for the Kanpur Nagar seat were Subhash Chandra Srivastava-independent-1 set, Valendra Katiyar-Socialist Unity Centre of India-1 set, Ramesh Chandra Awasthi, Raju Bharatiya, and Sachin Awasthi, all independents, one set each.
