Kanpur Schools Receive Bomb Threats via Email, Turned Out to Be ‘Hoaxes’

In a span of 72 hours, seven schools in Kanpur, including five private and two government-run, received bomb threat emails. The emails were reported to the police on Tuesday, and the school authorities were informed as schools were closed on Sunday and Monday.

The schools that received the threat emails are Gulmohar Vihar Public School in Hanumant Vihar, KDMA school in Gujaini, Sanatan Dharm Education Centre in Kaushalpuri, Chintal’s school in Singhpur Kachar, Virendra Swaroop School in Civil Lines, Kendriya Vidyalaya Cantt, and Kendriya Vidyalaya in Armapore estate.

After extensive searches, no suspicious items were found, and the threats were deemed to be hoaxes. The Cyber Crime officials have been alerted, and an investigation has been launched.

The officials are also looking into potential patterns between the hoax bomb threats received by schools in Lucknow, Bengaluru, Jaipur, and Delhi-NCR.

Police officials have urged parents not to panic, stating that all precautionary measures are being taken.

This incident follows a series of bomb threat emails received by schools across the country. On May 1, over 100 schools in Delhi received such emails. On May 11, the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport also received a threat email. On May 14, four hospitals in Delhi received bomb threats via email.
