This exceptional achievement has been recognized by the prestigious Skytrax World’s Best Airport for Baggage Delivery 2024 award, bestowed upon KIX for its unwavering commitment to passenger convenience and efficiency.
KIX’s success in maintaining an impeccable baggage handling record is attributed to its rigorous ‘Multilayered checking work’ system. Dedicated teams of two to three staffers meticulously assess the types and number of bags for each plane, alongside passenger transit information. This thorough approach ensures that multiple staff members collaborate and cross-check information, minimizing the risk of errors and ensuring seamless baggage delivery.
The airport’s unwavering dedication to passenger satisfaction is exemplified in its meticulous preparation for the World Expo 2025, which is expected to attract a massive influx of 37.3 million passengers in the 2025 fiscal year. In anticipation, KIX has developed detailed luggage handling guidelines for each airline, constantly updated based on staff experience and suggestions. The ultimate goal is to deliver passengers’ luggage within 15 minutes of flight arrival.
Despite their remarkable achievements, the KIX staff maintain a humble approach. ‘We don’t feel like we have been doing something special,’ remarked Kenji Takanishi, a public relations officer for Kansai. ‘We have been working as we normally do. We only do our work daily and we are recognized for it. We are certainly happy to receive the award. I think our staff, especially those working on the ground, feel more pleased.’
