Early this month, Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign surprised fans by announcing the release of their upcoming album, ‘Donda 2,’ without warning or explanation. However, the scheduled listening sessions were abruptly canceled, leaving fans confused and disappointed.
This marked just one of several setbacks in the rollout of the project. Initially, Kanye and Ty announced that ‘Donda 2’ would be released in three parts, with the second installment slated for March 8 and the third part scheduled for April 5. However, those release dates came and went without any new music materializing.
Subsequently, a version of the album was released in mid-February, only to encounter further obstacles. FUGA, the company listed as the album’s distributor, had previously refused to work with Kanye due to his antisemitic comments. As a result, the album was pulled from streaming platforms, despite debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
On March 8, Kanye attributed the delay to a decision to adopt a direct-to-consumer distribution method. However, with the new tentative release date of May 3, it remains to be seen whether ‘Donda 2’ will finally see the light of day as scheduled. Fans are understandably skeptical given the album’s troubled history, but they will undoubtedly be eager to hear from Kanye and Ty and experience the highly anticipated project.
