Kapil Sharma’s OTT debut, ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show,’ has come to an abrupt end after its first season. Archana Puran Singh, a regular on the show, announced the wrap on Instagram, shocking and disappointing Sharma’s fans. The show premiered on Netflix on March 30th with much fanfare and anticipation, featuring guests like Ranbir Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor. However, despite the star-studded lineup, the show failed to impress viewers, with its numbers dwindling with each episode. The content was criticized for being unoriginal and lacking the humor that has made Sharma a household name.
After the announcement, Archana Puran Singh confirmed the end of shooting for the first season. “Yes, we have wrapped up the shoot of season one of ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’; we shot the last episode of the season yesterday,” she said to Pinkvilla. Despite the show’s disappointing performance, comedian Kiku Sharda hinted at the possibility of a second season. “We have done 13 episodes, and the second season will come out soon. We just wrapped up the first season. It was always meant to be like this. We have already planned the content, and it will come out soon. There won’t be a huge gap,” he told News18.
Whether or not ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ will return for a second season remains to be seen. However, the show’s abrupt end after just one season has left many fans wondering if Sharma’s OTT debut has fallen flat.
