Karachi’s main roads, including Shahrae Faisal and MA Jinnah Road, which were closed to ensure foolproof security during Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi’s visit on Tuesday, have been reopened for traffic. However, a section of Sharea Faisal remains closed from the FTC flyover onwards, and some link roads are still partially closed. Gas stations along Sharea Faisal continue to be shut down.
In anticipation of the road closures, the Karachi Traffic Police had issued a detailed traffic plan advising citizens to utilize alternative routes to reach their destinations.
The authorities implemented a comprehensive security plan that involved deploying a significant number of law enforcement personnel throughout the city. According to a spokesperson for the Karachi Police, over 3,800 police officers and officials were mobilized to maintain order and ensure the safety of the foreign dignitaries during their visit to Karachi.
The spokesperson provided details of the security deployment, stating that 345 officers and employees were stationed in District East, 164 in District West, and over 300 in District South.
