Karnataka Gears Up for Phase 2 of Lok Sabha Elections

Following the conclusion of the first phase of polling, attention has now turned to Phase 2, which encompasses 89 Lok Sabha seats across 13 states and Union Territories. Among these, Karnataka’s 14 constituencies will cast their votes on April 26. Notable constituencies participating in this phase include Bangalore Rural, Bangalore North, Bangalore Central, Bangalore South, Mandya, and Mysore.

In the 2019 elections, the BJP secured 25 out of 28 seats in Karnataka. This time, the BJP is contesting in 25 seats, with its state ally JDS vying for the remaining 3 seats. All three constituencies contested by JDS are part of the second phase – Hassan, Mandya, and Kolar.

Bangalore South and Mysuru stand as other pivotal constituencies going to the polls on April 26. Tejasvi Surya seeks reelection from Bangalore South, challenged by Soumya Reddy, daughter of state minister Ramalinga Reddy, who narrowly lost the 2023 assembly election in Jayanagar by a mere 16 votes. Meanwhile, Yaduveer Wadiyar, the royal scion, steps into the fray in Mysuru, replacing sitting MP Pratap Simha.
