Closures in Bengaluru for Lok Sabha Elections
In adherence to election norms, several institutions and services will be closed in Bengaluru on Friday, April 26th, as the city participates in Phase 2 of the Lok Sabha elections.
Educational Institutions:
– Schools and colleges will remain closed to facilitate student participation in the voting process.
Government Services:
– Non-essential government services will be suspended, allowing employees to exercise their democratic right.
Corporate Offices:
– Corporate offices are required to grant leave to employees, ensuring their ability to cast their votes.
Karnataka High Court:
– The Karnataka High Court has declared a general holiday for its Benches in Bengaluru on April 26th.
Banks:
– Banks will observe a holiday and remain closed.
Liquor Sale Ban:
– To maintain law and order, Bengaluru will observe three dry days, prohibiting the sale of liquor from 5 pm on Wednesday, April 24th, until midnight on April 26th.
Prohibitory Orders:
– Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC will be enforced in the city from 6 pm on April 24th until midnight on April 26th, restricting gatherings, rallies, and other activities that could disrupt the electoral process.
Essential Services and Commercial Establishments:
– Essential services, including public transport (BMTC, BMRCL), and hospitals, will continue to operate unhindered.
– Commercial establishments are expected to remain open, although they may delay their opening hours to allow employees to vote early.
