Karnataka has emerged as a prominent hub for medical education in India, with six of its institutions making it to the top list of medical colleges in the 2024 National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings. This year marked the ninth annual publication of the NIRF, a comprehensive framework that assesses higher education institutions in India based on five key parameters: Teaching, Learning, and Resources (TLR); Research and Professional Practices (RPC); Graduation Outcomes (GO); Outreach and Inclusivity (OI); and Perception (PER).

In the Medical category, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, secured the top spot, followed by other leading institutions from across the country.
