The British public’s fascination with the Royal Family continues, and a new Ipsos poll has revealed who reigns supreme in terms of popularity. After a long reign by the late Princess Diana, the crown of the most popular royal has returned to Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales.
The survey, conducted between September 6th and 9th, placed Kate Middleton at the top of the list, with a whopping 66% of respondents expressing favor towards her. Her husband, Prince William, followed closely behind, with 65% approval. Anna, the Princess Royal, secured third place. King Charles III, the current monarch, also earned a respectable position in the poll.
Perhaps the most surprising results came from the ranking of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. They fell to seventh and eighth place, respectively, with significantly lower favourability ratings. Only 28% of respondents viewed Prince Harry favorably, while 46% held unfavorable opinions. The Duchess of Sussex fared even worse, with only 21% expressing favorable opinions, compared to a staggering 53% who were unfavorable.
The poll also touched upon the ongoing debate about Prince Harry’s possible return to royal duties. The public appeared divided, with 34% in favor and 37% opposed.
Overall, the public’s perception of King Charles III remains positive, with 56% believing he is doing a good job as monarch. The Royal Family’s image as a whole also remains positive, with 53% of Britons expressing favorable views. Interestingly, 44% believe that abolishing the monarchy would be detrimental to the country, while 23% feel it would be beneficial.
This latest poll offers a glimpse into the evolving dynamics within the British Royal Family and the public’s ongoing fascination with their lives. It remains to be seen how the family will navigate the shifting tides of public opinion and the challenges they face in the years to come.
