Kavitha’s Bail Pleas in Excise Policy Case to be Heard by Supreme Court on August 20

The Supreme Court has announced that it will hear the bail pleas of Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi leader K Kavitha in the excise policy case on August 20. Kavitha is seeking to overturn the Delhi High Court’s decision denying her bail in two related cases. The High Court, in its July 1, 2024, ruling, dismissed Kavitha’s bail applications, citing strong evidence suggesting her involvement as a primary conspirator in the criminal conspiracy surrounding the creation and implementation of the now-abolished Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. The Supreme Court bench, comprised of Justices B R Gavai and K V Viswanathan, has agreed to hear Kavitha’s appeals against the High Court’s verdict. This development follows the High Court’s assertion that Kavitha was a key figure in the conspiracy concerning the excise policy. The upcoming hearing in the Supreme Court holds significant implications for Kavitha and the ongoing investigation into the alleged corruption surrounding the excise policy.
