In the World Economic Forum’s Travel and Tourism Development Index 2024, released on May 21, Kazakhstan has made significant strides in its tourism sector, climbing to 52nd place among 119 nations. This is a notable improvement over its previous ranking of 66th out of 117 countries in 2021.
Kazakhstan’s strong performance in specific areas contributed to its rise in the rankings. These areas included health and hygiene, price competitiveness, and the socioeconomic impact of tourism and travel. The United States holds the top spot on the list, followed by Spain in second and Japan in third.
Kairat Sadvakasov, Chairman of the Kazakh Tourism national company, expressed his enthusiasm for the news on his Instagram story, saying, ‘This is amazing news! Our long-term goal is to enter the top 50 of this rating. Now we are only two positions away from this goal. This became possible thanks to the coordinated work of both central government bodies and local executive bodies, associations, businesses, and universities. I think this is a common victory, congratulations to everyone! We need not to slow down and move on to enter not only the top 50, but also the top 30.’
Kazakhstan’s progress in tourism aligns with its ambitious goal of entering the top 50 countries in the World Economic Forum’s rankings. With its continued efforts in improving its tourism infrastructure, enhancing health and hygiene standards, and promoting the socioeconomic benefits of tourism, Kazakhstan is well-positioned to achieve its goal and establish itself as a leading tourism destination.
