KCAC Aviation, a prominent name in the aviation industry and the authorized dealer for Pilatus and Piper aircraft in the Midwest, recently marked a significant milestone with the groundbreaking of its new aircraft maintenance hangar at Johnson County Executive Airport (KOJC) in Olathe, Kansas. This state-of-the-art, nearly 30,000-square-foot facility represents a substantial investment in the company’s future, enabling KCAC to better serve the increasing demand for aircraft maintenance services in the region.
The groundbreaking ceremony, held on August 23, 2024, brought together local airport commission officials, county representatives, KCAC Aviation team members, and industry partners to celebrate this expansion. This new hangar will not only double KCAC’s maintenance capacity but also streamline its comprehensive range of services, from routine inspections to major overhaul repairs. This expansion marks a crucial step in the company’s 58-year history, demonstrating its commitment to innovation and growth.
Tony Mateer, General Manager of KCAC Aviation, highlighted the broader impact of this expansion, stating, “It’s not just about expanding our facilities and reducing downtime; it’s about enhancing our capabilities and allowing us to better serve our clients.” The new hangar will provide additional space and resources to accommodate the increasing demand for maintenance services across KCAC’s Pilatus and Piper aircraft sales region. This expanded capacity will allow KCAC Aviation to handle more aircraft projects simultaneously, improving service delivery and operational efficiency.
KCAC Aviation has experienced significant growth in its maintenance operations in recent years, with its maintenance team expanding by 50% since 2021. The new hangar will further support this growth, providing the avionics and maintenance teams with the space and resources to take on more projects at once. Bill Lento, KCAC Aviation’s Director of Maintenance, emphasized the benefits for both clients and employees: “With this expansion, our maintenance and avionics teams will be able to work on more projects at once, which in turn will mean better service for our customers and better opportunities for our employees to grow.”
Scheduled to become operational by summer 2025, the new hangar will play a crucial role in KCAC Aviation’s future, accommodating the increasing demand for aircraft repair and maintenance services. The expansion also reflects the company’s commitment to meeting the needs of its growing customer base while contributing to job creation within the region.
The addition of a second maintenance hangar underscores KCAC Aviation’s investment in the future of general aviation. As the demand for private and general aviation continues to grow, KCAC is positioning itself to remain a key player in the industry by expanding its service offerings and operational capacity. “Breaking ground on our new aircraft maintenance hangar represents a pivotal moment for KCAC Aviation,” said Mateer. “We’re excited about the opportunities this will bring for both our KCAC team members and our customers. It’s about much more than just the facility itself; it’s about continuing to grow with our customers and providing the exceptional service they expect.”
