Kejriwal Receives Insulin in Tihar Jail After Denial by Court

The special court’s initial denial of Arvind Kejriwal’s request for insulin in Tihar Jail sparked controversy and allegations from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of a political conspiracy against the Delhi Chief Minister. However, the situation took a turn when Kejriwal was subsequently administered a “light dose” of insulin at night, following consultation with doctors from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Jail officials clarified that the decision to administer insulin was made after observing a spike in Kejriwal’s blood sugar levels before dinner on Monday. The jail’s in-house doctor consulted with an AIIMS specialist, who recommended the administration of “two units” of insulin to Kejriwal. The twist in the story came when Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj highlighted that despite the insistence of the jail’s doctors that Kejriwal did not require insulin, a diabetologist was called from AIIMS upon the court’s direction. The specialist examined Kejriwal and found it necessary to administer insulin to control his high blood sugar levels. AAP functionaries and Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal, attributed the decision to grant insulin to Kejriwal to the blessings of Lord Hanuman on Hanuman Jayanti, a religious occasion celebrated widely in India. They expressed their gratitude and belief in the divine intervention that led to Kejriwal’s insulin administration. The incident highlights the ongoing debate and political controversy surrounding Kejriwal’s health and treatment in Tihar Jail. While AAP alleges a conspiracy against their leader, jail authorities maintain that all inmates, including Kejriwal, receive equal treatment when it comes to medical care and well-being.
