K-pop girl group Kep1er, formed through the 2021 reality show ‘Girls Planet 999,’ will reportedly disband in July after discussions about a potential contract extension fell through. The group, comprising Yujin, Xiaoting, Mashiro, Chaehyun, Dayeon, Hikaru, Huening Bahiyyih, Youngeun, and Yeseo, was initially formed with a two-year and six-month contract.
According to South Korean news outlet Star News, Kep1er will release new music and hold a farewell concert for their fans before their official disbandment. Neither the members of Kep1er nor their agency have confirmed the report.
Kep1er’s disbandment comes amid a flurry of other news in the K-pop industry. South Korean entertainment giant HYBE has announced plans to file a complaint against executives of ADOR, including CEO Min Hee-jin, over allegations of breach of trust. Boyband AB6IX has announced the dates for their upcoming 2024 ‘Find You’ fan concert tour, with concerts in South Korea and North America. Former BBGirls member Youjoung has addressed her sudden departure from the group in a new Instagram post, stating that her decision was made after much contemplation.
