Regarding the recent speculation surrounding Kep1er’s potential disbandment, their agency, WAKEONE, has provided an official statement. Contrary to earlier reports suggesting an imminent split in July, WAKEONE has clarified that negotiations concerning an extension of the group’s contract are actively underway.
In response to the initial reports, WAKEONE expressed, ‘We are currently [still] in discussions with each member and their respective agencies regarding the extension of Kep1er’s activities.’ They elaborated, ‘Currently, Kep1er is preparing diligently for a new album. We kindly request your continued support as they strive to return with exceptional music.’
Earlier in April, WAKEONE had indicated that they were ‘in positive discussions with each member’s agency to extend the group contract.’
Formed through Mnet’s ‘Girls Planet 999’ survival show, Kep1er made their debut in January 2022 as a nine-member girl group. Upon the conclusion of the show, they entered into an exclusive contract with WAKEONE as a temporary group with a promotional period of two and a half years.
