The Kerala Cyber Police have taken swift action against individuals and groups attempting to sell question papers and answer keys for the upcoming Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE). On Thursday, July 4th, a case was registered in Thiruvananthapuram after advertisements promoting the sale of these exam materials were discovered on Telegram groups. The FMGE, which is essential for foreign medical graduates seeking to practice in India, is scheduled to be held on July 6th. This case marks the first instance in Kerala to be registered under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act 2024, highlighting the state’s commitment to combating exam-related fraud.
The City Cyber Crime Police in Thiruvananthapuram initiated the investigation after receiving reports of the illegal activities. The police spokesperson confirmed that the case was registered under the newly enacted legislation, emphasizing the seriousness of the offense. In order to proactively detect and prevent such fraudulent practices, the Cyber Division of the Kerala Police has implemented 24×7 cyber patrolling across various social media platforms, including Telegram channels. This continuous monitoring aims to identify and address any suspicious activities related to exam leaks and other forms of cheating.
The swift action taken by the Kerala Cyber Police underlines the growing concern over exam-related malpractices and the need for robust measures to safeguard the integrity of educational assessments. This case serves as a strong deterrent against individuals who attempt to exploit the examination system for personal gain and underscores the importance of maintaining a level playing field for all aspiring medical professionals.
