Patrick Guizar, a 21-year-old man from Kerman, California, has been recognized as the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools’ “Superintendent’s Superstar” for April. The honor comes in recognition of Patrick’s outstanding achievement of earning the American FFA degree, the highest degree achievable in the National FFA Organization.
Patrick has had to overcome significant challenges in his life, having been diagnosed with autism at the age of three. Despite the doubts of others, Patrick has persevered and excelled, proving that individuals with autism are capable of extraordinary achievements.
Patrick’s passion for animals, particularly goats, led him to join FFA in high school. Through FFA, he has raised goats and lambs and earned several degrees, culminating in the American FFA degree. Patrick’s hard work and dedication have not only earned him recognition but also serve as an inspiration to others with autism and a reminder to everyone that people with disabilities are capable of great things when given the opportunity.
In addition to his involvement in FFA, Patrick is also the president of the Kerman Autism Group, where he mentors younger individuals with autism. Patrick’s story is a powerful example of the potential that lies within individuals with autism and the importance of providing them with the support and opportunities to succeed.
