Kerry Katona and her fiancé, Ryan, have decided to scrap their plans to relocate to Marbella, Spain, due to recent incidents of violence in the area. The decision comes after several shootings in the popular tourist destination, which prompted the Spanish police to launch Operation Marbella to combat the surge in gang-related violence.
Katona, who initially expressed excitement about the move after a family holiday in Marbella last summer, now says she is prioritizing the safety of her children. She revealed that her youngest daughter, 9-year-old Dylan-Jorge, is happy at her current school and does not want to move, and her son, 15-year-old Maxwell, is starting college soon.
“It’s no secret that Ryan and I have been thinking of uprooting to Marbella for a while, but now we’re undecided. We have read that there’s been a couple of shootings in that area and we’re just not sure if it’s the best place for our family to move to,” Katona wrote in her OK magazine column.
The couple has opted to stay in the UK and look for a smaller house, as their daughter Heidi, 16, will be attending college soon. “Now, the plan is to stay in England and we’ve been viewing houses already,” Katona said. “A new home is on the horizon – but we won’t need as many rooms!”
