In a recent interview with Anderson Cooper, comedian Kevin Hart recounted his memorable audition for ‘Saturday Night Live.’ Hart attempted to impress producer Lorne Michaels with an impression of former NBA point guard Avery Johnson, but Michaels was unfamiliar with the player. Despite Cooper’s suggestion that Hart should have chosen a more recognizable basketball star, Hart insisted on his Johnson impersonation. “No, it was not an NBA star, it was not an NBA star, it wasn’t a face of the NBA,” Hart explained. “I was like, ‘I think I can do a good Avery Johnson.'” Johnson played for several NBA teams throughout his career, most notably the San Antonio Spurs, where he won a championship in 1999. Cooper requested that Hart demonstrate his Johnson impression, to which Hart enthusiastically obliged, saying, “‘Pass me the ball,'” in an attempt to mimic the player. Cooper’s reaction to the impression was much more positive than Michaels’, who was reportedly unimpressed. Hart has made numerous guest appearances on ‘Saturday Night Live’ despite not becoming a cast member, hosting the show three times since 2013. In the same interview, Hart finally revealed his true height, clarifying that he is 5’5″ with shoes on and 5’5.5″ with boots.
