Governor’s Race
In the race for governor, six Republicans are competing for the seat being vacated by term-limited Eric Holcomb. U.S. Sen. Mike Braun, endorsed by former President Trump, is a frontrunner with name recognition and substantial financial backing. Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, known for her partnership with Holcomb, aims to reduce income tax and expand mental health services. Businessman Brad Chambers adopts a more moderate approach, focusing on the economy and supporting law enforcement. Former commerce secretary Eric Doden prioritizes investing in small towns. Former Attorney General Curtis Hill faces challenges due to previous allegations of misconduct. Jamie Reitenour seeks to appoint the leader of Hamilton County Moms For Liberty to head the state education department.
U.S. House Races
Indiana will send at least three new representatives to the U.S. House. Jim Banks is the sole Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, leaving his office in Indiana’s 3rd Congressional district. Eight Republican candidates are vying for Banks’ former seat. Voters in Greg Pence’s 6th district will choose between conservative state Rep. Mike Speedy and businessman Jefferson Shreve. In Bucshon’s southern Indiana district, eight candidates seek to replace the longtime congressman. U.S. Rep. Victoria Spartz faces a tough primary challenge from state Sen. Chuck Goodrich in central Indiana’s 5th district.
