Who says wedding guest attire stops at a dress or suit? Khloe Kardashian makes a case for an elevated braid as part of her look for a grand nuptial procession that is part of a traditional Indian wedding. Thanks to celebrity hair stylist Chris Appleton, the sumptuous style was entirely Khloe’s own locks.
“We blow dried her hair out – because it’s so humid [in Mumbai] – and I just braided it, leaving a little bit of volume in the crown with a middle part,” explains Appleton; he felt this style best suited Khloe’s facial shape. “We then pulled [her hair] back into a french braid, braided it all the way down into a fishtail braid, and then literally just pinned in the jewelry after.”
Traditionally, Indian women braid jewelry and flowers into their hair for special occasions. And to kick off night one of the weekend of celebrations, Khloe paid homage to the centuries-old tradition. The jewelry featured in the braid is from a local Indian jeweler – which added some culture and elegance to the look.
“Just a little bit of detail is a fun way to elevate the braid,” says Appleton. He also notes that costume jewelry, real jewels, and even necklaces can work for a night out – and this particular style worked perfectly with Khloe’s outfit.
