Kid Cudi suffered a broken foot during his Coachella performance on Sunday after an ill-fated stage jump. The 40-year-old rapper, known by his birth name Scott Mescudi, ended his set short, as seen in fan footage.
Security personnel assisted Cudi off the stage, and the performance was concluded with a recording of his hit song, ‘Pursuit of Happiness.’ Many attendees were unaware of Cudi’s injury at the time.
Later, Cudi took to his official Instagram account to share an update on his condition. ‘Hey guys, so I broke my foot today at the show,’ he wrote. ‘Just leavin’ the hospital.’
Cudi expressed gratitude for the support he received and revealed that he had never broken a bone before. He also joked about the incident, referencing his age in a follow-up video. ‘This is what happens when a 40-year-old man tries to prance around off stage like he’s 26 like he used to do back in the day,’ he said.
Despite the setback, Cudi remains hopeful about performing his scheduled tour. ‘I don’t want to let you guys down,’ he affirmed. ‘Not cancelling anything just yet. Just going to wait and see how things go.’
Cudi was a last-minute addition to the second weekend of Coachella. The festival’s headliners included Lana Del Rey, Tyler, the Creator, and Doja Cat. No Doubt also performed on both Saturdays of the event.
