Performing David Guetta’s “Memories” at Coachella on Sunday, Kid Cudi leaped off the stage, landing awkwardly and sustaining a foot injury. He was immediately assisted by medics and security, and with the support of two guards, he hobbled offstage.
Cudi’s discomfort was evident as he was carried past the crowd. The audience expressed their concern and support, with one attendee shouting, “Cudi, we love you!”
On social media, Cudi reassured fans of his condition and expressed gratitude for their well wishes. “I broke my foot today at the show. Just leavin’ the hospital. Never broken a bone before so this is all a bit crazy,” he wrote. “I wanna thank u all for ur concerns and well wishes!! I love yall man. I heard yall still ragin when I was offstage. Made me smile big.”
The following day, Cudi shared a lighthearted video update, despite his discomfort. “S*** got real yesterday… this is what happens when a 40-year-old man tries to prance around offstage like he’s 26, like he used to do back in the day,” he joked.
Explaining that he had “broke something” in his heel, which he described as a “major setback,” Cudi confirmed that he is in pain but is “a little sore” today and has a temporary cast while awaiting a permanent one.
Despite his injury, Cudi remains committed to his upcoming Insane: Engage the Rage World Tour, which commences in Austin, Texas, in June. “I’m hoping that I’ll be healed up in time for tour. That’s the plan. I don’t want to let you guys down,” he stated. “So yeah, that’s what we’re aiming for. Not canceling anything just yet, just gonna wait and see how things go.”
Cudi expressed his resilience and unwavering love for his fans. “But don’t worry. Imma bounce back. Aight? I love y’all. Engage the rage. But not at 40,” he concluded with a laugh.
