King Charles is reportedly open to meeting with Prince Harry in person when he returns to the UK for the Invictus Games. However, the same courtesy may not be extended to Meghan Markle, who will remain in California with their children. The Daily Mirror reports that Meghan’s presence could distract from the event, overshadowing the purpose of the gathering. According to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams, King Charles has kept the door open for Harry, but the reception may not be particularly warm. Fitzwilliams believes that Meghan’s presence in the UK could take away from the message of the event and potentially exacerbate the situation.
Harry’s upcoming visit to the UK will mark his first return since it was revealed that his sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, has cancer. There is no word on whether Harry will meet with Kate, his brother Prince William, or his father King Charles during his trip. At the event, which celebrates its 10th year, Harry will give a reading in St Paul’s Cathedral in London on May 8. There is no news yet about whether any other Royal Family members, including Meghan and their children Archie and Lilibet, will be in attendance.
