As the US Presidential election draws to a close, with less than 24 hours remaining, a royal expert has sparked speculation about a potential US visit by King Charles.
Phil Dampier, a royal author and commentator, believes that a trip across the pond would be a huge success for the King. He points out that former US President Donald Trump is a known admirer of King Charles, and a visit from the monarch would be warmly welcomed by the American public. “Trump seems to be very fond of the King. Obviously, he’d like to have him. That would be enormous if the King and Queen went to America,” Dampier said while discussing the King’s successful Australia tour on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show.
The possibility of a US visit comes as the King and Queen are gearing up for a busy schedule of foreign tours following their recent nine-day trip to Australia and New Zealand. Dampier hinted that Canada could be next on their itinerary, with King Charles having a fondness for the country. “They’ve got to pace themselves; it depends on how well he is. I imagine the next place will be Canada. I’m sure that will be next; he loves Canada,” he said.
Buckingham Palace has already confirmed two major royal tours for 2025. One of these is expected to be a trip to Italy, with Rome being a likely destination. While a meeting with the Pope at the Vatican City is not currently on the agenda, the King and Queen’s visit to Italy is expected to be a significant event.
The King’s health remains a key consideration for all future tours. His cancer treatment was temporarily paused during the Australia trip and is expected to resume soon.
Amidst these developments, the US elections are capturing global attention, with candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump vying for victory in pivotal swing states. Over 77 million people have already cast their ballots through early voting, and the final votes will be tallied on Tuesday (November 5) before the polls close.
With the US election reaching its climax and King Charles’ potential US visit making headlines, it’s an exciting time to follow both political and royal events.
