The rift within the royal family is well-documented, with recent reports of potential reconciliation following news of King Charles and Kate Middleton’s health. However, royal author Christopher Andersen claims there is one line King Charles won’t cross: criticism of Camilla. In Prince Harry’s explosive memoir ‘Spare,’ released in January 2023, he refers to Camilla as ‘the other woman’ and ‘dangerous,’ labeling her as the ‘villain’ in the story.
Andersen told Fox News, “I think people have to realize that the one thing that Charles finds unforgivable is criticism of Camilla.” He added, “And unfortunately for Harry…Harry said some pretty devastating things about her. He made it clear that he felt she was…the villain in the piece.”
Andersen believes King Charles is deeply troubled by Harry’s words about Camilla and may never forgive him. “I think that still bothers the king, and I don’t know that it will be easy for him to [forgive]. I don’t think they’ll ever forgive Harry for that. [He’s] on his own.”
The royal author also commented on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s attempts to repair their relationship with the royal family, stating that their efforts have been unsuccessful.
In his book, Harry writes about his feelings after his mother, Princess Diana’s death, describing Camilla as engaging in a “long game” to secure marriage and ultimately the crown. He also reveals that he begged his father not to marry Camilla, calling her “the other lady” and a “wicked stepmother.”
Amidst this ongoing tension, rumors of a second memoir from Prince Harry have surfaced, adding further pressure to the already strained family dynamic. Royal author Robert Hardman and royal commentator Lee Cohen believe a second memoir is likely, especially considering the first omitted details about Harry and Meghan’s wedding. This potential second installment arrives at a particularly sensitive time for the family, with King Charles and Kate Middleton facing health concerns.
