Kolkata Knight Riders CEO Venky Mysore has clarified the situation surrounding the deleted viral video featuring Rohit Sharma and KKR assistant coach Abhishek Nayar. The video, which was originally shared by KKR, was later taken down after it sparked discussions about Sharma’s future with the Mumbai Indians. Mysore has stated that he was unaware of the video and believes it was created with malicious intent. Both Sharma and Nayar have denied any wrongdoing and have stated that the conversation was taken out of context.
Rohit Sharma, who captained the Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles, was replaced by Hardik Pandya for the 2024 season. In the video, Sharma appeared to discuss the changes within the Mumbai Indians franchise and his relationship with the team.
Mysore, speaking to RevSportz ahead of the IPL 2024 playoffs, stated that he had spoken to both Sharma and Nayar and that the conversation was taken out of context. He said, “I didn’t even know about it, I think it’s just a storm in a teacup. They have been good friends since god knows how long and someone has done something there just to create some mischief. I talked to both of them, they were talking about something else. Some people just have too much time on their hands.”
Sharma, who is nicknamed “Hitman,” is one of the most successful batsmen in IPL history. He has scored over 5,000 runs in the tournament and has led the Mumbai Indians to five championships. Nayar, on the other hand, has played 60 matches in the IPL and has represented several teams, including the Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, and Rajasthan Royals. He is currently the assistant coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders.
The Kolkata Knight Riders are currently in the playoffs of the IPL 2024, while the Mumbai Indians have been eliminated. Sharma is expected to play a key role for the Knight Riders in the playoffs, while Nayar will be hoping to help his team win their third IPL title.
