Kolkata Doctor’s Death: Mother Alleges Murder, Calls for Justice

The mother of a trainee doctor, found dead at the government-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, has raised serious allegations against the hospital and police. She claims her daughter was murdered, not a suicide, and that the authorities are attempting to cover up the crime.

The victim’s mother recounted the harrowing sequence of events leading up to the discovery of her daughter’s body. She described receiving a call from the hospital claiming her daughter was sick, but the call was disconnected. When she called back, she was told to come to the hospital. Later, a person identified as an Assistant Superintendent informed her that her daughter had committed suicide.

The mother was shocked when she arrived at the hospital and was initially denied access to her daughter’s body. When she finally saw her daughter, the condition of the body was horrifying. She described her daughter’s pants being open, only one piece of clothing remaining on her body, a broken hand, and blood coming from her eyes and mouth. She stated that these injuries clearly indicated a murder, not a suicide.

The mother also criticized the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, for her handling of the case. She accused the Chief Minister of trying to stop protests demanding justice for the victim, citing the imposition of Section 144 to prevent gatherings. The mother expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of the investigation, saying that while the Chief Minister promised swift action, only one person has been arrested despite her belief that many more are involved.

Further, she accused the Kolkata Police Commissioner of negligence and attempting to hush up the case, citing their quick efforts to perform the post-mortem and remove the body. The mother’s allegations highlight a disturbing lack of transparency and accountability in the investigation, leaving her and the public with serious concerns about the circumstances surrounding her daughter’s death. The case is now being investigated by the Kolkata Police, and the public is awaiting a thorough and unbiased investigation to reveal the truth behind the tragic incident.
