Kolkata Rape and Murder Victim’s Father Denies Leaking Hospital Audio

The father of the victim in the Kolkata rape and murder case has denied leaking audio recordings of conversations between the family and staff at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The audio clips, which went viral on social media, allegedly capture the initial communication between the victim’s parents and the hospital after the trainee doctor’s body was found on August 9th.

The father, speaking to ANI, stated, “We don’t know from where, how it [the phone conversation between the family and the assistant superintendent of the hospital] went viral. We will not take responsibility for it.” He further dismissed the authenticity of the voice in the recordings, saying, “You say so, but I do not see it. This issue will not affect the investigation.”

The audio clips, which Mint could not independently verify, reveal a series of phone calls between the victim’s parents and a woman who identifies herself as the assistant superintendent of the hospital. In the first call, the caller informs the father that his daughter is “very sick” and has been admitted to the hospital. The father expresses concern, asking about his daughter’s condition, and the caller assures him that she is “very serious.”

The second call, placed five minutes later, reiterates the critical nature of the victim’s condition. The caller, identified as the assistant superintendent, requests the father to come to the hospital immediately. In the background, the victim’s mother is heard expressing panic and asking about what happened to her daughter, who was on duty at the time.

The third and final call, lasting only 28 seconds, is the one that delivers the news of the victim’s death. The caller, who is believed to be the same person from the previous calls, informs the family that the victim “may have died by suicide or she may have passed away,” before urging them to come to the hospital.

The case, which is being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), has raised questions about the hospital’s initial response to the incident and the communication with the victim’s family. The CBI is also probing alleged financial irregularities at the hospital. Earlier investigations involved polygraph tests conducted on the arrested suspect, Sanjay Roy, and a second round of tests on Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
