Korean Air was recently honored with the Friendship Medal by the Mongolian government, a prestigious recognition for the airline’s substantial social contributions in Mongolia. This high honor, presented by the President of Mongolia, acknowledges foreign entities and individuals who significantly bolster bilateral ties between Mongolia and other nations. The award presentation was hosted on May 29 at the Government Palace in Ulaanbaatar. The ceremony saw notable attendees such as Yohan Park, Vice President and Head of China Regional Headquarters for Korean Air; Ho Young Seo, the airline’s Head of Human Resources Strategy; Odbayar Erdenetsogt, Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of Mongolia; and Batkhuu Nyam-Osor, Environment and Green Development Advisor to the President.
For over twenty years, Korean Air has been actively involved in environmental conservation efforts in Mongolia, particularly in the Baganuur District. Here, the airline has helped develop what is now known as the Korean Air Forest, which acts as a natural shield against dust and debris from adjacent coal mines, while also combating desertification. This initiative reflects the airline’s long-term commitment to environmental sustainability.
Additionally, Korean Air has made significant contributions to local communities by setting up computer classrooms in seven schools and providing volunteer medical services in collaboration with Inha University Hospital. These efforts underscore the airline’s dedication to supporting educational and health initiatives, further cementing its role as a key partner in Mongolia’s development.
