A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy was shot in the chest and rushed to the hospital on Monday in West Covina.
Details are limited and it’s unclear exactly how the shooting unfolded. Authorities responded to the deputy’s call for help near Barranca and Garvey avenues.
After launching a manhunt for the suspect, authorities worked to track down a vehicle, described only as a white van with a black roof rack. A man was taken into custody in La Puente in connection with the shooting.

Authorities say the deputy was on-duty and riding his motorcycle when he was shot.
The suspect was taken into custody shortly after.
Aerial footage captured by Sky5 showed a heavy presence of several law enforcement agencies, including LASD and California Highway Patrol, outside a residence in La Puente.
The injured deputy was wearing a bullet-proof vest, according to reporting by Sky5’s Gil Leyvas, and is expected to recover.
