In a significant development, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and his sons, Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav, have been granted bail by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court in the high-profile land-for-jobs money laundering case. The court, presided over by Special Judge Vishal Gogne, granted bail to the accused after they appeared in court in response to earlier summons.
The bail was granted on the condition of furnishing a personal bail bond of ₹1 lakh each. Notably, the accused were not arrested during the investigation. The court’s decision came after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a supplementary charge sheet against the accused on August 6. The ED’s case is based on an FIR lodged by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The case centers around Group-D appointments made in the West Central Zone of the railways based in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, during Lalu Prasad Yadav’s tenure as Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009. According to the ED, these appointments were allegedly made in exchange for land parcels gifted or transferred by the recruits in the name of the RJD supremo’s family or associates.
This development is likely to have significant political ramifications, as it involves prominent figures from the RJD, a major political party in Bihar. The case has been closely watched by political observers, and the granting of bail will undoubtedly add fuel to the ongoing political debates.
