A destructive house fire erupted in Calgary’s Marlborough neighborhood on Saturday night, causing extensive damage and necessitating the evacuation of eight occupants and numerous pets. The Calgary Fire Department (CFD) swiftly mobilized to the scene on Memorial Drive at approximately 11:20 p.m. Firefighters encountered a raging inferno fueled by a heat-damaged natural gas meter, which they skillfully managed to control from outside the property. To combat the flames, they employed large volume hose streams, while utility companies ATCO Gas and Enmax promptly secured the affected gas and electricity lines.
The intense blaze wreaked havoc on the residence, but fortunately, no neighboring homes suffered damage. Throughout the night, firefighters tirelessly worked to quell hotspots and prevent any further spread of the fire. The cause of this devastating incident is currently under investigation.
