The Las Vegas Grand Prix is revving up for its second edition in November, promising a more diverse and exciting experience than its inaugural event. In response to criticisms about the limited track action last year, organizers have announced the addition of a Ferrari Challenge support race, providing fans with more on-track entertainment.
The event will also feature an unconventional twist: a skating rink on the rooftop of the Paddock Club hospitality building. This luxurious addition is aimed at those seeking extra entertainment and a unique perspective on the race action.
Emily Prazer, Chief Commercial Officer for F1 and the Las Vegas Grand Prix, acknowledged the feedback received regarding the lack of support races in the inaugural event. She explained that logistical challenges hindered their inclusion last year, but they now feel more comfortable extending the track activity and operating hours. The Ferrari Challenge series will run throughout the three-day event, with garages located within the Fan Experience zone, a free daytime event on Las Vegas Boulevard with a daily capacity of 30,000.
Prazer emphasized the importance of engaging the local community and educating Nevadans about Formula One through the Fan Experience zone. This year, organizers are shifting their focus from hype to a more intimate experience centered around the sport, prioritizing accessibility and inclusivity. They have introduced more affordable tickets and general admission zones, catering to a wider range of fans.
The Las Vegas Grand Prix, promoted by Liberty Media-owned Formula One, serves as an incubator for new ideas and pushing boundaries, as exemplified by the ice rink. Prazer explained that they are exploring ways to enhance the entertainment aspect of the event, noting the city’s existing hockey team, the Golden Knights, and a merchandise collaboration with them.
The ice rink addition reflects a desire to fully utilize the Paddock Club space, creating a unique and fun experience for guests. The event’s organizers are committed to offering a well-rounded experience for fans, combining thrilling racing with innovative and entertaining elements that are uniquely Las Vegas.
