Riot Games has announced the arrival of a new champion in its upcoming League of Legends-themed fighting game, 2XKO: Braum. Known for his formidable shield and companionship with the adorable poros, Braum is set to bring his signature support style to the team-based fighter. He joins a roster that already includes popular champions like Darius, Ekko, Ahri, Yasuo, and Illaoi, with more characters expected to be revealed before the game’s 2025 launch.
In a post on the PlayStation Blog, game director Shaun Rivera explains that, much like in League of Legends, Braum’s gameplay revolves around using his shield to disrupt attacks and protect his allies. His signature move, Unbreakable, allows him to absorb damage after performing specific actions, making him a resilient force in combat. Braum also possesses a freeze mechanic that enhances his armor and can temporarily incapacitate opponents.
Adding to Braum’s charm are the poros, those fluffy, white creatures native to his homeland of Freljord. These lovable companions are not mere aesthetic additions; they can fly around the arena or coalesce into a damaging projectile. Players can witness Braum’s abilities in action through a video released alongside the announcement.
Those eager to try out Braum and other champions can participate in the upcoming Alpha Lab playtest, running from August 8th to 19th on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. To join, players need a Riot account, an email address, and reside in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Brazil, France, Japan, or Mexico.
Despite remaining under development since 2019, 2XKO finally received a full reveal earlier this year. The game marks a shift in Riot Games’ strategy as they prioritize established franchises and live-service titles, following the closure of Riot Forge and the layoff of over 500 employees.
