Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard has become a fan favorite not only for his crucial goals but also for his heartwarming goal celebration. The Belgian attacker has made a habit of cupping his hands around his eyes like goggles after finding the back of the net, a gesture that holds special meaning for him and his young son.
In an interview with Football London, Trossard revealed the inspiration behind his celebration: “It all started a bit more than a year ago, when I asked my son what celebration I would do. He told me to do that celebration, I think he [had] seen it on YouTube with a superhero. At that moment, I said, ‘okay, I will do it’.”
The celebration has become a special bond between Trossard and his son. “Now it’s a little thing between us. If I score, I do the celebration. I come home, he sees me and runs up to me and does the same thing. It’s a nice little thing between us and I’m enjoying it,” Trossard said.
Trossard’s impressive performances for Arsenal have earned him a place in Belgium’s squad for the upcoming European Championship in Germany. The forward will be hoping to make a significant impact for his country, having played a limited role in their run to the quarter-finals at Euro 2020.
