Legendary Photographer Annie Leibovitz’s California Farm Lists for $8.99 Million

Legendary portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz is listing her sprawling California farm for sale, hoping to fetch $8.99 million for the property she purchased in 2019. The 65-acre estate in the coastal Bay Area town of Bolinas features a historic homestead dating back to the 1800s, as well as an equestrian facility, a guest house, a caretaker’s residence, a converted garage, and multiple barns. Among the barns are a seven-stall horse barn, a hay barn, a dairy barn with a recording studio, and a 1930s barn with a performance stage. Leibovitz initially purchased the property, known as the Hideaway, for $7.5 million with the intention of spending more time on the West Coast. However, her plans to partner with a renowned farmer to revitalize the property as a working and teaching farm were derailed when her daughter opted to attend college in the Northeast. As a result, Leibovitz rarely found herself at the estate, leading to its return to the market. The listing is held by Alexander Fromm Lurie of Compass, who is co-marketing the property with fellow agent Nick Svenson.
