Levi Wallace Set to Reunite with Denver Broncos, Bolstering Cornerback Group

The Denver Broncos are set to bolster their cornerback group with the pending signing of free agent Levi Wallace. Sources have confirmed that Wallace is returning to Denver, where he will provide veteran leadership and experience to a young secondary led by Pro Bowl cornerback Pat Surtain II.

The 28-year-old Wallace spent the past two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers after playing four years with the Buffalo Bills. He has been a regular starter throughout his career, playing in 31 games over the past two years with the Steelers and starting 52 games during his four years with the Bills.

Wallace’s signing aligns with the Broncos’ strategy in free agency of adding low-cost veterans without blocking the opportunities for younger players. He will provide experience at the cornerback position, complementing the promising but inexperienced Riley Moss and Damarri Mathis.

The Broncos also have Ja’Quan McMillian, who emerged as a disruptive nickelback in 2023, and Tremon Smith in the mix. However, they are likely looking to retain McMillian in his excelled slot role.

General manager George Paton has expressed satisfaction with the Broncos’ young cornerback group but has emphasized the need to add depth at the position. The signing of Wallace fulfills that need and provides the Broncos with a solid veteran presence in the secondary.

The Broncos may further bolster their secondary through the upcoming NFL Draft, where they could add more talent to a unit that is expected to be a key part of their success in 2023.
