Barcelona continued their impressive start to the La Liga season with a commanding 3-0 victory over Deportivo Alaves on Sunday. The Catalan giants were spearheaded by the prolific Robert Lewandowski, who scored a sensational hat-trick in the first half to propel his team to victory.
Lewandowski opened the scoring in the seventh minute, expertly heading in a pinpoint cross from Raphinha following a free-kick. The Brazilian winger then turned provider once more, setting up Lewandowski for his second goal in the 19th minute with a well-timed pass during a swift counter-attack.
The Polish striker completed his hat-trick just before the half-hour mark, scoring his 10th La Liga goal in just nine appearances this season. His clinical finishing proved too much for the Alaves defense to handle.
Despite their dominance, Barcelona couldn’t add to their lead in the second half as Alaves goalkeeper Antonio Sivera produced a string of impressive saves to deny further goals.
The victory moved Barcelona to the top of the La Liga table with 24 points, three points clear of their rivals Real Madrid. Alaves, on the other hand, remain in 12th place with 10 points.
Lewandowski’s hat-trick not only secured a crucial win for Barcelona, but it also cemented his position as the league’s leading goalscorer. With his remarkable form continuing, the Polish striker looks set to be a key figure in Barcelona’s bid for the La Liga title.
