Lexar has made a bold move in the world of memory cards by unveiling the world’s first stainless steel encased SD cards. These new additions to the company’s growing Armor Series, known for their ruggedness, are designed to withstand even the toughest conditions.
Introducing the Armor Gold SD UHS-II and Armor Silver Pro SD UHS-II cards, available in capacities up to 1TB. Forget about the days of flimsy plastic SD card casings breaking under pressure – these cards are built to last. Lexar has incorporated 316 stainless steel in their construction, making them bend-resistant and considerably stronger than conventional SD cards.
Lexar emphasizes that these Armor SD cards are ideal for outdoor filming, where the risk of damage is higher. They’re also IP68 certified, meaning they’re completely waterproof and dustproof, surpassing the protection offered by other SD cards in the market.
But it’s not just about durability; these cards are built for performance. Lexar promises next-gen Gen4 speeds, enabling seamless 8K RAW video shooting without any lag. The Armor Gold SD UHS-II card boasts read speeds of up to 280MB/sec and write speeds of up to 205MB/sec. The Armor Silver Pro SD UHS-II card offers the same impressive 280MB/sec read speeds but slightly slower write speeds of 160MB/sec.
For those seeking ultimate speed, Lexar has teased its Professional Gold Pro SDXC Express Card at IFA 2024, promising incredible read speeds of 1.7GB/sec (1700MB/sec) and write speeds up to 1GB/sec (1000MB/sec). This card is set to redefine performance standards for SD cards.
Lexar’s new Armor Gold SD UHS-II and Armor Silver Pro SD UHS-II cards come in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB capacities. While specific retail availability and pricing haven’t been announced yet, these new SD cards are sure to be a game-changer for photographers, filmmakers, and anyone who demands durability and performance in their memory storage.
