LG Electronics is making a significant push towards sustainability at IFA 2024, unveiling a new range of home appliances designed to meet the growing European demand for energy-efficient solutions. These appliances, developed in line with the EU’s ambitious goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and the REPowerEU plan to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, embody LG’s commitment to a greener future.
At the heart of this new lineup are laundry appliances that set new benchmarks for energy efficiency. LG’s latest washing machine incorporates a unique drum motion that delivers clean laundry while minimizing energy consumption thanks to its Artificial Intelligence Direct Drive (AI DDTM) motor. This intelligent motor adjusts its RPM in real-time, ensuring efficient operation while preventing clothes from tangling or twisting. The result? An impressive A-55 percent energy rating and a more sustainable laundry experience.
LG’s innovative approach extends beyond energy efficiency. The new washing machine also features a Microplastic Care cycle, which reduces the release of microplastics from laundry, further minimizing environmental impact. The ezDispenseTM feature provides automatic detergent dispensing, ensuring the perfect amount for each load, eliminating waste and simplifying laundry routines.
Complementing the washing machine is a new dryer boasting an A+++-26 percent energy rating, showcasing LG’s dedication to delivering high-performance appliances with minimal environmental footprint. Both laundry appliances are equipped with AI-driven innovations that enhance fabric sensing and deliver optimal performance. The washing machine’s AI DD motor and AI Wash feature offer enhanced fabric-sensing capabilities and strong performance, while the dryer’s AI DryTM provides accurate moisture detection and optimal drying for a range of different materials and laundry items. The washing machine also adapts to user preferences, automatically setting cycle and temperature options based on usage patterns and adjusting the order in which cycles are displayed on the control panel for increased convenience.
LG’s commitment to energy efficiency extends beyond laundry to its refrigerators. The new bottom-freezer refrigerator boasts the lowest energy consumption of any refrigerator currently on the market, achieving an A-25 percent energy rating. This impressive efficiency is combined with a premium flat door design, adding style to any kitchen. To further enhance the kitchen experience, the new refrigerator operates at only 29dB, creating a peaceful environment. Recognizing the diverse needs of European consumers, LG is expanding its line of highly efficient refrigerators, introducing a large-capacity side-by-side model in addition to the bottom-freezer. This new side-by-side refrigerator offers convenient features, including LG’s unique Craft Ice spherical-ice maker and UVnanoTM technology for easy hygiene management.
Completing the LG lineup of energy-efficient appliances is a new 60-centimeter (24-inch) built-in InstaViewTM oven, boasting A++ energy efficiency and a host of cutting-edge features and AI technologies to enhance the culinary experience. The oven provides 80 Auto Cook modes and, with Gourmet AITM️, can identify the dish being cooked using its built-in camera and automatically select the appropriate cooking mode from a database of 30 recipes. LG’s InstaView technology, which allows users to check on their meal’s progress without opening the door, helps preserve oven temperature and prevent energy waste, making meal preparation more efficient and convenient.
LG’s dedication to sustainability extends to its dishwashers. The new LG QuadWashTM dishwasher, equipped with the company’s power-saving Inverter Direct Drive MotorTM, achieves an A-20 percent energy efficiency rating. The dishwasher also enhances convenience with its Side Rack and 3rd Rack options, providing flexibility for a variety of kitchenware.
“LG’s latest appliances meet growing European demand for energy-efficient home solutions while simultaneously delivering superior performance and a more convenient life,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “We will continue to leverage our advanced core technologies, including inverter and component solutions, to deliver an expanded lineup of appliances with industry-leading energy efficiency.”
Visitors to LG’s booth (Hall 18, Messe Berlin) at IFA 2024 from September 6-10 can experience these energy-efficient solutions firsthand and explore the company’s commitment to a more sustainable future.
